Ramsdale has lost his place to David RayaBack in the team against Brentford as Raya is ineligibleWarned his relationship with his manager is brokenWHAT HAPPENED?
Ramsdale has lost his place in the Arsenal starting XI following the arrival on loan of David Raya from Brentford. The England stopper was back in the team for the clash with Brentford on Saturday, as Raya is ineligible to play against his parent club, but has still been told by former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson his career at the club is over and he should find an escape route in January.

"He had an excellent season last year, started this one well and I'd watched the documentary and he's an integral part of that changing room. He's a leader. He is a great character and he seemed to have a great relationship with the manger," he told BBC Sport. "That can't be fixed now. It is fractured. The manager has made his decision but he'll drop the carrot to get a performance out of Ramsdale [with Raya ineligible]. But, Ramsdale is second choice now and in January he needs to get his move and play top-level football."

Ramsdale will feel he has a chance to regain his place in the team against Brentford with Raya out, and it will be interesting to see which goalkeeper Arteta selects in Arsenal's next game against Lens in the Champions League. A move in January could be on the cards if Ramsdale finds himself back on the bench, particularly as the stopper risks missing out on a spot in England's Euro 2024 squad if he remains on the sidelines for the rest of the campaign.

Arsenal have the chance to go top of the table on Saturday. Liverpool's draw with Manchester City earlier in the day means the Gunners will claim top spot if they can take all three points.
