As reported by The Sun, Manchester United have missed out on the chance to sign Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann, with the player instead opting to make a move to Barcelona.
What’s the story?
Griezmann has been one of the most impressive stars in European football for years, with a move away from Atletico Madrid rumoured on a consistent basis.
However, it appears this could genuinely be his last season in Atletico colours.
That’s according to The Sun anyway, who report he has agreed to join fellow La Liga side Barcelona in a £88m move that comes as a blow to Manchester United.
The paper say Jose Mourinho was keen on signing him this summer but that’s now been ruled out.
What kind of impact could he have had at Old Trafford?

How badly are United missing out?
Griezmann’s 23 goals and 13 assists this season alone are enough to demonstrate just what kind of attacking sensation the Frenchman could have been at Old Trafford.
However, even more impressive is his ability to produce that kind of attacking contribution consistently over a number of years at the highest level, both in La Liga and European competition.
In his four seasons at Atletico, he’s scored a mammoth 106 goals in 198 appearances, also providing 38 assists.
It’s fair to say if he’d replicated that at United, alongside the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, it’d have gone down well with supporters.
If The Sun reports are to be believed though, that will only ever be a dream for Red Devils supporters, who will have come up with another potential signing to drool over.
