Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Roy Hodgson spoke about transfers in his press conference ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City, with Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge tweeting a clean summary of his words.
The former England manager has only seen one new player added to his squad this month in Cenk Tosun, while he has also lost one as Victor Camarasa’s loan spell was ended early.
Ahead of the trip to Manchester, the 72-year-old was asked about Kyle Walker-Peters’ prospective move from Tottenham to Selhurst Park, while Hodgson was also quizzed on a report suggesting that the Eagles are happy to let Christian Benteke leave on loan.
The former Liverpool boss also quashed talk of Algeria international Nabil Bentaleb becoming a Crystal Palace player this month, despite Le Buteur revealing that there is a ‘very good chance’ that the 25-year-old will move to south London.
Bridge also tweeted that Hodgson sounded ‘downbeat’ about a move for Walker-Peters.
Let’s see how the Crystal Palace fans reacted to Bridge’s tweet on Twitter…
To kick off the reaction, these two fans did not sound too happy with the transfer update.
Jason said that Crystal Palace are showing “Championship level club leadership” as well as describing the Eagles as a side “at a standstill” with “no ambition and obviously no money”.
Anthony went on to say that “Parish needs to admit that we’ve over spent on wages” before stating that “Hodgson will walk in May, and we’re definitely not safe yet” – sounds like this pair are feeling pessimistic.
Elsewhere, Frenchie said that Hodgson “sounded like he’d given up on us bringing anyone else in” – in truth, the experienced manager’s tone of voice did sound slightly downbeat.
Meanwhile, Martin, Ethan and Ben all feel like there won’t be anymore incomings.
Call yourself a Premier League expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?
Martin said that he “can see Tosun being the only incoming” while Ben jumped to a conclusion slightly in saying that the update “means we’re not signing anymore this window” – there’s still time guys!
Lastly, Ethan simply made a similar point to Ben in saying “so we’re signing no one” – keep the faith.
