West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson has vowed that he will do his best to regain his England place, having been omitted from the squad for the European Championship qualifier with Montenegro.
The 25-year-old was axed by Fabio Capello, having been part of the squad for the two qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland last month.
Carson told the Birmingham Mail:"Getting the recall for the last qualifiers was a big boost. I was delighted to get back in, but I needed to leave after a couple of days.
"The club had a fax through to say I was in this provisional squad so, to be honest, I thought I'd be okay and be in the squad because I was in the last one. So I was really devastated to find myself out this time.
"I got back in last time and I thought I'd carried my form on in the last few games.
"Being forced to pull out last time was for personal reasons and things seemed to have gone against me.
"It's how I react to this that's important. I have to keep performances up and get everyone talking about me again in a good way.
"I won't sulk, I won't throw my toys out of the way – I will let my performances get me back in."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
