According to The Sun, French club Reims are interested in a loan deal with an option to buy Chelsea midfielder Lucas Piazon, but Sheffield Wednesday should hijack any move for the Brazilian to bolster their ranks.
What’s the story?
Piazon has spent the past two seasons on loan with Fulham and helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs in May earlier this year.
As a fully fledged member of Chelsea’s loan system, the now 24-year-old has also spent time with Reading, Malaga, Vitesse Arnhem and Eintracht Frankfurt, but has only three appearances for the Chelsea first team despite being on the books for six years.
While at Craven Cottage, Piazon made 58 appearances in all competitions over two seasons and scored 12 goals as well as providing nine assists. This and a full season in the Championship with Reading means that the former Brazil U23 international is accustomed to and experienced in the division.

Off the mark
During the summer, Jos Luhukay’s Sheffield Wednesday side were subject to a transfer embargo from the EFL after failing to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations. The club announced that the embargo had been lifted last week, but with the transfer window in England closed, the Owls will only be able to sign players on a temporary basis.
Piazon would represent a solid start to any business for Luhukay and he would certainly improve the current squad. After his success with Fulham, Wednesday should attempt to bring Piazon back to the Championship rather than letting him join the Ligue 1 side.
The Owls picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday evening with a 2-1 win at home to Millwall, but fans of the club will be keen to see new arrivals at Hillsborough.
