It was a beautiful Easter Sunday down at Turf Moor but this was far from a beautiful football from Tottenham and Burnley. Nonetheless, here are the THREE things we learned from the game:
Townsend decision backfires
Mauricio Pochettino left Andros Townsend out of his team despite the winger scoring again whilst on international duty for England. In light of the spark-less attack offered by Messers Eriksen, Chadli and Paulinho the decision appeared the wrong one.
Dyche deserves to be at this level
Sean Dyche’s Burnley have undoubtedly endured a tough campaign but the manager’s ability to organise a team is a kin to Tony Pulis’. Even if his team are unable to survive the drop this time around Dyche has proved he’s got what it takes to operate at this level. The term ‘Ginger Mourinho’ is starting to sound less like a joke.
Ings outshines Kane
Danny Ings was much the busier of the two strikers even if many would have expected his counterpart to be so. Kane may point to his lack of supply for this fact but there is no doubting that Ings was again decent. The 22-year-old striker should have done better when he struck his first chance straight at Michel Vorm but Ings showed why Liverpool remain interested in his signature.
