As reported in an exclusive by Calcio Mercato, two of England’s biggest clubs are set to battle it out for the signature of highly rated Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.
What’s the story?
Chelsea and City are locked in a fight to win the Premier League title on the pitch and off it, they’re set to fight it out again, this time for the signature of one of La Liga’s top talents.
Calcio Mercato report that both English giants are in for former Blackburn and Stoke man Steven N’Zonzi. They face a battle though, with Juventus also in the picture to sign the defensive midfielder.
The outlet reckons that it could take up to £25m to bring the Frenchman back to the Premier League from Sevilla, the value of his contractual release clause.
The right man?
N’Zonzi is in exceptional form for the Spanish side this season, helping them to third in the table, just 4 points behind Barcelona sitting at the top of La Liga. He also played a key role in Sevilla’s excellent Champions League campaign that saw them qualify for the knockout stages at the expense of Lyon and Dinamo Zagreb.
His move to La Liga from Stoke unlocked his true potential and now Europe’s biggest clubs are calling for his services.
Outside of his undoubted ability perhaps his biggest to Chelsea and Man City is his Premier League experience. He made over 200 appearances for Blackburn and Stoke in England and would no doubt be able to hit the ground running if he moved to Manchester or London.
At 28 years old, the reported £25m is a significant amount. Can either of the Premier League negotiate a lower price and make one of the signings of the season?
