Lewis Grabban and Daryl Murphy are Nottingham Forest’s only natural striker options right now, and manager Aitor Karanka may look for another new face in January if he wants his team to stay in the Championship promotion race.
If he doesn, he should look no further than signsing Charlton Athletic’s in-form star Lyle Taylor.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Reds came into the current campaign with Grabban and Murphy, and the former has undoubtedly become the east Midlands outfit’s first-choice option up top, scoring nine goals and providing a further two assists in 16 Championship appearances so far this term.
However, the 30-year-old has also missed three penalties in the league, and he has squandered plenty of other good goalscoring opportunities that could have seen Forest in the play-off positions, rather than just outside of them.
Murphy meanwhile has already missed a number of matches because of injury and illness, and perhaps hasn’t pushed his striker teammate as much as he would have wanted to.

Why should Forest target Taylor?
The Addicks only signed the former AFC Wimbledon man on a free transfer during the summer window, but he has already made a huge impression for them to suggest that he could do a job in the Championship, too.
The 28-year-old centre-forward has netted nine goals in 17 League One matches, while he scored a brilliant hat-trick – which included an unbelievable chip – in his side’s 5-0 thrashing of Mansfield Town in the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
Taylor has already proven that he is clinical in the final third and can score any type of goal, and with the form he is in and the confidence he clearly has he has the ability to arrive at the City Ground and relegate Grabban to the substitutes’ bench.
